Sometimes you can't
think of anything good
about a certain person.
The more that person
needs to be praised,
and also encouraged.
Think hard, be honest
and sincere and then
give your praise.
See what happens.
Give a kind smile to a stranger
Pick someone who looks as if
he needs it - the street vendor
with no customers, the bored
guard, the overworked secretary...
You might just make that person's
day.
The challenge of trying something ne
is one sure energy - boost. It makes
an ordinary day special. And
whether or not it tastes good -
one thing's for sure - you have
made a discovery today!
Do something for FREE
Whether it be mowing
someone's lawn or
carolling at Christmas
giving something without
expecting anything in return
is an ultimate high.
Throw flower seeds in empty
neighbor hood lots instead
of weeds growing, soon there'll
be flowers! You can voluntarily
cut the unruly grass growing in
untended areas and clean up
litter.
We act as though comfort
and luxury were the chief
requirements of life, when
all that we need to make
us really happy is something
to be enthusiastic about.
Happiness comes more
from loving than being loved;
and often when our affection
seems wounded it is only
our vanity bleeding. To love,
and to be hurt often,
and to love again - this is
the brave and happy life.
The secret of happiness
and prosperity in this world,
as in the world to come, lies in
thinking of the welfare of
others first, and not taking
one's self too seriously.
I'm fulfilled in what I do...
I never thought that a lot
of money or fine clothes -
the finer things of life -
would make you happy.
My concept of happiness
is to be filled in a spiritual
sense.
Happiness cannot be traveled to,
owned, earned, worn or consumed.
Happiness is the spiritual experience
of living every minute with love,
grace, and gratitude.
The truth is that all of us
attain the greatest success
and happiness possible
in this life whenever we
use our native capacities
to their greatest extent.
The world's literature
and folklore are full of
stories that point out
how futile it can be
to seek happiness.
Rather, happiness is
a blessing that comes
to you as you go along;
a treasure that you
incedentally find.
One is happy as a result of
one's once on efforts, once one
knows the necessary ingredients
of happiness - simple tastes, a
certain degree of courage, self-
denial to a point, love of work,
and above all, a clear conscience.
Happiness is no vague dream,
of that I now feel certain.
